How to Frame Your Shirt: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide

Framing a shirt is one of the best ways to turn a special memory into something you can enjoy every day. Whether it’s a football jersey, a marathon top, a concert tee or a meaningful keepsake, our shirt framing kits are designed to make the process straightforward and stress-free.

Follow these simple steps to get a clean, professional finish at home.

Step 1: Disassemble the Frame

Carefully remove the back panel and take the frame apart. Lay out all the components on a clean, flat surface. Make sure you have:

  • The frame
  • The glazing (acrylic front)
  • The backing board
  • The shirt template
  • The fixing sticker

Keeping everything organised at this stage makes the rest of the process much easier.

Step 2: Peel the Protective Film from the Glazing

Before reassembling the frame, remove the protective film from both sides of the glazing panel. This film protects the acrylic during transit, but it must be fully removed to ensure your display looks clear and professional. Take your time to avoid fingerprints or dust - a soft cloth can help if needed.

Step 3: Fold the Shirt Over the Template

Lay your shirt face down on a flat surface.

Place the template inside the shirt and fold the fabric neatly around it. Smooth out any creases and make sure logos, names or numbers are positioned exactly how you’d like them to appear.

Once you’re happy with the positioning, use the stickers provided to secure the folded shirt in place on the back of the template.

Tip: Take a moment here to double-check alignment - small adjustments make a big difference once framed.

Step 4: Attach the Template to the Backing Board

Your backing board includes a Velcro fixing area. Simply press the secured template firmly onto the Velcro section. This keeps the shirt in position and prevents it from moving once the frame is assembled and hung.

Make sure it feels secure before moving to the next step.

Step 5: Reassemble the Frame

Now it’s time to put everything back together. Place the backing board (with shirt attached) into the frame. Insert the glazing panel at the front and secure the back panel into place.

If your frame includes space for additional photos or memorabilia, now is the time to insert those before fully sealing the frame.

Check that everything is straight and sitting neatly before tightening fully.

Step 6: Hang Your Shirt Frame

Your frame comes ready to hang. Choose a secure wall fixing suitable for your wall type, and hang your shirt frame at the desired height.

Avoid placing it in direct sunlight to help preserve colours over time.

You’re Done!

In just a few simple steps, you’ve turned a meaningful shirt into a display piece.

Whether it’s a treasured sports memory, a milestone achievement, or a sentimental keepsake, your framed shirt is now ready to take pride of place on the wall.
